Ringgit Real Talk: Navigating Money, Relationships and Investment Decisions

Uno Advisers recently collaborated with Teman Girls for “Ringgit Real Talk”, an engaging event that explored how money can affect relationships, emotional well-being and investment decisions.

The first panel brought together different professional and personal perspectives. A clinical psychologist examined the emotional side of financial behaviour while our co-founder and licensed financial planner, Kimberly Law, provided financial guidance and practical solutions. Suraya from RinggitOhRinggit.com also shared relatable real-life experiences with the audience.

Learning From Money Horror Stories

The panel explored real situations involving romantic partners, parents, friends and societal pressure.

These stories highlighted how money disagreements are often connected to differences in values, expectations or personal experiences. When these differences are not discussed early, they may lead to financial stress or conflict later.

Participants were encouraged to have honest conversations about life goals and financial expectations before entering a serious relationship or marriage. This includes discussing spending habits, financial commitments and how both individuals see their future.

Making Investment Learning Interactive

The second session shifted the focus towards investing. Through an interactive voting format, participants explored common investment types, their objectives and different strategies that may be considered.

The discussion reinforced that an investment should be assessed according to the individual’s goals and level of readiness. It should not be selected solely because it is popular or recommended by someone within their social circle.

The event concluded with a tea break that gave participants time to connect and build new friendships. Through Ringgit Real Talk, Uno Advisers was pleased to support an open conversation about money that combined professional guidance with honest, relatable experiences.
